Pacplan® PaperWave® Packaging combines air cushion technology with recycled paper for easy-to-store, lightweight paper protective packaging. We supply PaperWave® Pillow Films as uninflated rolls which are inflated on demand at point of use using a compatible Pacplan® Airwave® machine. The inflated paper-based air cushions can then be used as void fill to cushion and protect your products in packages like cardboard boxes. PaperWave® is made from 100% recycled paper that uses an ultra-thin, starch-based compostable sealing layer. It is designed for eco-conscious packagers who want paper-based air pillow packaging that is recyclable and compostable, as an alternative to plastic air pillows.

What is PaperWave Packaging?

PaperWave packaging is a system to provide paper-based air cushion protective packaging that can fill voids and cushion products in storage and shipping.

Inflated paper air pillows are placed around products in their packages to prevent movement and minimise impact damage during transit and handling.

Their USP is being made entirely from recycled paper unlike plastic air pillows, and use a thin starch-based sealing layer.

The manufacturer, Pacplan® states that this sealing layer will not stop the material being recycled with waste paper.

How Does PaperWave Work?

PaperWave Pillow Film is purchased in rolls uninflated. The rolls are for pillows sized 210mm x 300mm with 300m of pillow roll.

At a packing station or other point of packaging, you feed the roll into a compatible air cushion machine, to inflate and seal the individual chambers.

This creates perfect paper-based air cushions for use on an as needed basis, which are lightweight and easy to store.

What is PaperWave Packaging Used For?

PaperWave is used as protective packaging in cardboard boxes and other outer packaging.

Common applications of Paperwave air pillows include:

fill empty spaces around products in boxes
limit product movement in transit
cushion fragile, easily damaged goods
separate products packed in the same box
Protect your eCommerce and retail orders
Provide an environmentally friendly paper-based alternative to conventional plastic void-fill materials.

The individual cushions are easier to separate so when packing you only use the right amount per package.

Is PaperWave Recyclable?

Yes. PaperWave air pillows are manufactured with 100% recycled paper and a thin starch-based, compostable sealing layer.

Both Paperwave and plastic air pillows offer protective lightweight cushioning for void fill but they differ in how they are made.

The countdown clock on order page offering next day delivery was ignored, followed by a patronising email stating 1-2 day delivery then after telling me they would put it on the list for am delivery it arrived at 5pm.
